Recent reports have revealed that a Telegram channel calling itself “Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters” has claimed responsibility for the Jaguar Land Rover cybersecurity incident, sharing a screenshot of the company’s internal IT systems.

The group’s name blends three well-known English-speaking hacker collectives: Scattered Spider, Lapsus$, and ShinyHunters. This is more than just branding. It signals a growing trend: threat actors are collaborating, pooling skills, tools, and intelligence to increase their impact.

ShinyHunters, for example, has previously been linked to high-profile attacks on UK retailers. Now, we’re seeing these groups align, making themselves stronger and more coordinated than ever.

This raises an uncomfortable but necessary question: If the bad actors are joining together, why aren’t we?

A Fragmented MSP Landscape

The UK MSP and IT services space is often highly fragmented. Many providers work in isolation, each with their own tools, processes, and strategies. While competition drives innovation, it can also limit our collective ability to defend against increasingly sophisticated, collaborative threats.

Cybersecurity is no longer a solo endeavour. Attacks today move fast, cross borders, and exploit gaps between systems and providers. No single MSP can keep pace with every new threat alone, but together, we can build a stronger front.

Tech Tribe: A Step in the Right Direction

That’s why communities like Tech Tribe matter.
Synergy is proud to be a host and participant of Tech Tribe, a key program and community designed to help MSP owners better run and grow their businesses.

By sharing insights, strategies, tools, and real-world experiences, MSPs can strengthen their collective capabilities. This isn’t just about business growth; it’s about building a networked defence that mirrors how adversaries are now operating.

Strength in Collaboration

The cybersecurity landscape is evolving. Threat actors are collaborating at scale. It’s time the MSP industry mirrors that unity, not just to protect clients, but to secure the broader digital ecosystem.

Communities like Tech Tribe represent a step in the right direction. When MSPs connect, share, and support one another, the entire industry becomes stronger.
